What Is The Best Way To Transition From Relaxed To Natural
Q: Hi Camille,
What is the best way to transition from relaxed hair to natural hair?
I have been going natural for three years and I have not cut my relaxed hair off. I go to my hair stylist once a week for my treatments but my hair isn't growing as fast as I would like.
Is there any additional advise you can give me for longer healthy hair?
A: Hi. First I have to say that I'm amazed that you've been growing your hair out for so long and have managed to keep the ends of your hair intact!
For most people even if they didn't cut the ends off they would break off eventually at the line of demarcation.
Do you mind telling me what type of hair you have?
Some Points About Hair Growth
As for you hair not growing as fast as you like...that's just a fact of life when you want longer healthy hair! :)
Your hair will never seem like it's growing fast enough, but always remember that it IS growing.
Another thing I'd love to to keep in mind is this:
"It's not what you grow, it's what you keep"
I know people who's hair grows very fast but it's always short and unhealthy because they don't take care of it.
On the other hand, even if you don't have the fastest growing hair in the world, if you take care of it well you'll keep every inch of length you DO gain...and over time that adds up to a lot of hair. :)
To make sure that your hair is growing it's fastest you can definitely do some things. Check out these pages to learn more.
