What Can I Use For My Oily Face?
Q: What products can I use for my oily face? I also have sensitive skin. I live in Toronto, Ontario.
Please help, I'm very frustrated.
A: Hi there. I can totally relate to your frustration because I have oily skin like nobody's business.
Let me tell you before I got any further that even though you hate it now you'll be glad when you're 60. You are going look YOUNG because of that oily skin of yours.
Now, back to the matter at hand. When your body produces too much oil it's one of a few things going on.
1. You're over drying your skin and it's trying to make up for it by putting out more oil.
2. You live in a hot climate and it's making your pore hyperactive.
3. You have a hormonal imbalance that's causing your to produce more oil than you need.
You should always use a gentle cleanser on your face no matter how much oil you think you have, and moisturizer is a must. Just make sure it's gel or water based.
The only thing that has ever worked for me with stopping oil for good is taking Vitamin B regularly. It helps to correct the hormonal imbalance in the body and makes the skin produce less oil.
The key though is to treat your skin gently and don't try to "dry out" the oil by over using external help.
Last but not least doing a regular clay mask treatment like Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask helps a lot. 3-5 times a week for really oily skin does wonders.
