I had bad acne when I was younger. Now they're gone and I have marks and I don't know how to get rid of. How would I go about that?

Tips for an even skin tone
by: Camille

Hi V!

Can I just start off my saying that you're as cute as a button in your picture!

You have beautiful chocolate skin and I can understand why having to battle with dark marks is heavy on your mind.

Dark spots are nothing more than irritated skin that's been hyper pigmented (got darker) and the discoloration gets trapped in the dead skin cells.

A lot of us doing realize this but black skin doesn't shed and renew as fast as other ethnic skin types. The combination of the dark spots and the fact that it takes years to fade can add up to a lot of tears and feeling bad about your skin.

The key is to get the skin to turn over and renew itself faster.

That's going to make the spots fade and make your skin look better, brighter and more vibrant!

You can use mechanical exfoliation techniques, which means using a gentle scrub or a wash cloth.

You can also try using chemical techniques like getting a peel. Now mind you there are peels you can do yourself at home but I'd really recommend that if you want to check it out you go to a spa first to let them examine your skin and let you know what's best for you.

In terms of natural based products...there's nothing better than a combination of black soap and Shea butter to help even out your tone and lots of women swear by it.

Hope this helps and let me know how it progresses.
