Problems With Box Perm

Q: I apply a box perm to my hair every 6 weeks. Yet when I wash my hair, it appears to be kinky but manageable.

I am not sure why this is happening. What could the problem be?

A: It sounds like you are either not leaving the relaxer on long enough, or you aren't using the right strength for your hair.

On the other hand, your hair doesn't have to and shouldn't be bone straight after you've had a relaxer done.

Your hair should only be 80% straight and you can use roller sets, flat irons or blow dryers to get your hair the rest of the way straight.

If you can comb your hair, don't have any breakage, it looks healthy and gets the straight look after you style it, I say keep on doing what you're doing!
