How To Thicken Hair

Get simple tips on how to thicken hair.

how-to-thicken-black-hair Are you upset because your hair always looks thin and see-through?

If your hair doesn’t have the body you think it should, don’t be depressed. There are definitely ways to make your hair fuller, or at least make it look that way.

Keep in mind that you can make your hair look thicker but if you have hair that’s naturally fine textured there’s nothing you can do to change that.

Let’s focus on the things you can do to get your hair looking thick and luscious.

Tips On How To Thicken Hair A Fuller Look

Take Hair Vitamins

  • A healthy body produces healthy hair. If you can’t eat right all the time take a good hair vitamin. It’s the insurance you need to help your body produce the healthiest hair possible.

Use Thickening Shampoos and Conditioners

  • No shampoo or conditioner can make your hair thicker permanently but some do give it more volume which is what you’re trying to achieve.

Thickening shampoos and conditioners make your hair “fat” for a few days by coating it with protein. This works as a quick fix, but over time the buildup can damage your hair.

Wear Curly Styles

** This is my favorite hair thickening fix!

  • Hair always looks thicker when it’s curly because the curls add volume. Curly styles won’t make the actual strands thicker but give the illusion of thickness.

Braid outs, twist sets, rod sets and roller sets all help to give your locks a boost.

To get a full look with relaxed hair do a roller wrap. First roller set and then dry wrap your hair. Easy as pie and works like a charm!

Get a Blunt Cut

  • If thickness (or lack of it) is your issue, always go for a blunt cut. Hair that’s all one length looks fuller than layered hair. The ‘bob’ is the simplest blunt cut. Spice it up with color, bangs and accessories.

Keep Your Hair Short

  • If your hair suffers from a lack of “oomph” get yourself a hip snip. Too much length makes fine thin hair look limp.

Damaged ends bring your hair down with “dead” weight. Get rid of them and give your hair a new lease on life.

Use Hair Extensions

  • Pull off looks that your hair can’t do on its own with a few well placed tracks of hair (I’ve used this trick a couple of times myself.)

Make sure you choose the right color and texture extension hair for a seamless blend.
