How To Put On Makeup Powder

Learn how to put on makeup powder so it lasts all day.

The last step in putting on your makeup is powder. It's essential for a perfect finish.

  • It sets your foundation and keeps it looking smooth and fresh all day long.
  • It helps eye shadows and other makeup to stick to your skin better.
  • It keeps the shine down on oily areas of your face giving it a matte look.

Let’s look at the steps to use to finish off your flawless face once your concealer and foundation are done.

How To Put On Makeup Powder Step By Step

Step1

Use a powder brush to work the product into the bristles making sure that it's fully covered.

Step 2

Tap the brush to remove any excess.

Step 3

Gently buff your skin, being sure to cover your entire face, including your eyelids.

Step 4

If you need to, repeat the process again until your face is flawlessly matte.

The Different Types Of Powders

Loose

This is what the pros use and it works best when you use it with a quality brush. The loose form is great for setting your foundation and giving your skin a light and refined look and really helps to hold down oil as well.

  • Think about using translucent (sheer) to hold down shine without adding extra color.
  • Use this powder to prevent and fix mistakes. If you put some under your eyes with a sponge it'll catch any eye shadow that fall while you're putting is on. Then you just dust it away when you're done.

Pressed

Are you a woman on the go? Then this powder is perfect for you! It comes in a compact and goes on with a sponge or puff. This is a good choice when you need a touch up on shiny parts of your face.

  • Change your puffs often so you don't give dirt and bacteria any chance to clog your pores.
  • If you've gotten a little heavy handed with your makeup, sweep pressed powder over the heavy areas to soften the look without having to start all over again.
