How To Get Wavy hair – Hair Waving Techniques
1. Scrunching – If you have biracial type hair that has a wave to it you can really bring it out using this method.
After you wash your hair you’ll need to use a good waving product and your fingers to work the product through your hair like you’re crushing
paper into balls. Grab fist full’s of hair and squeeze the product in.
When you do this and don’t use a comb or brush in your hair the end result is smooth “wet look” waves.
2. Braid Outs – If you want really defined waves the braid out method is perfect for you.
Doing single or cornrowed braids on damp hair with a setting lotion makes the most beautiful waves you can imagine.
Braid outs are one of the healthiest methods to get waves too because you can air dry instead of using heat.
3. Twist Outs – These are very similar to braid outs besides the fact that you twist braid rather than use three plaits or cornrows.
You can either single twist or flat twist the hair using a good moisturizing setting lotion.
Adding perm rods to the ends of your hair adds to their definition.
This is another healthy hair technique because you air dry and don't use any direct heat.
4. Crimping Irons – Using a crimping iron gives you luscious waves quickly because you use heat and do it on hair that’s already dry.
The down side is that because you use heat it has the potential to singe and burn your hair if it’s not done right.
If you’re going to use a crimping iron make sure to choose the lowest setting and only style clean hair. Using a good heat protectant is good insurance as well. Once you don’t use the crimp iron too much and you do your deep conditioning treatments regularly you’ll be just fine.
