You?re going to need the following things to get this smokey eye look.
- Foundation - Eyeliner - Dark Eye Shadow - Light Eye Shadow - Mascara - Eye Makeup Brush
Step 1: Prime your eyelid for the liner and shadows with foundation.
Step 2: If you need to brighten up your eyebrow with a brow pencil (the smokey eye can overpower a weak brow).
Step 3: Line the upper lid along the lash line with the color of your choice and smudge it with your finger or a dry medium tipped makeup brush. Of course a smokey eye calls for a deep color.
Blues, browns, purples and dark greens are nice. Black is very dramatic and can look hard so unless that?s what you?re really going for I would stay with a warmer color.
Step 4: Line your bottom lid and smudge again with your finger or a brush dipped in a little shadow.
Step 5: Use a light shade of eye shadow like pearl or coral right under your eyebrow. Make sure it has some shimmer in there because you don?t want your eye makeup to look flat (especially if you?re using dark shadow!).
Step 6: Use a dark eye shadow and starting from your lash line blend up until you get just past the crease onto the brow bone. Keep blending until you can?t see a hard ?line? between the dark shadow and light shadow highlight.
Step 7: Finish off your smokey eye with a coating of black mascara to take those lashes to the limit.
That?s it! This whole routine takes about 5 minutes once you get used to it. Keep practicing and you?ll be a smokey eye queen in no time!
An extra tip: Keep your lips neutral when you do a smokey eye because it?s too much if you do strong eye and strong lips.
