How To Be Patient With Hair Growth

by Lafleur

Q: Hi Camille,

I just subscribe to your site and I am very happy I found it.

I think I am doing all the basic hair care methods so far (relaxing 2 to 3 times a year, only using natural oil in my hair and taking vitamins) but my hair just seems not to grow as fast as I want it to.

I am a very impatient person and maybe that's why I feel like it is not growing.

Do you have tips on how to stop playing in my hair and stop looking for new growth every day in the mirror?

I am currently 12 weeks post relaxers and I am wearing braids that I intend to take out late September or early October.

I've had the braids for only two weeks now and I already can't wait to take some down for a length check...that's is horrible.

A: Can I just tell you that your post made my day? :D

I couldn't stop laughing when as I was reading the end because I felt like I could have been reading my own story from about 15 years ago! LOL!

Thank you very much for your comments about the site and also for your humor and honesty. I love it!

I can completely relate to your problem if wanting to check the growth every minute and also having braids and wanting to take a couple of them out to check the growth.

Girl there was times I had to hide the tape measure from myself because I was seriously going nuts! haha

The truth in this situation and what it took me forever to realize myself is that a watched pot NEVER boils!

I know it's probably not what you want to hear but you just have to try and force yourself to ignore your hair!

believe me, I know it's going to feel like you're withdrawing from "crack" to stop yourself from obsessing about it, but that's all you can do.

Think about this though and let it motivate you....you're not really going to see the gains in growth until you relax your hair, even if you stretch it out and use the millimeter side of the tape measure (...don't ask! lol).

Tell you what though. The forum section of the site has been down for a couple of weeks but will (hopefully) be back up later tonight or at worst by Friday. When it does re-open, register there and myself and the other ladies will support you when you feel the urge to measure and torment yourself.

Deal...?

I'll see you there.

Think about anything but that.
