How To Use Herbs for Hair Growth

There are lots of ways to add herbs for hair growth in your regimen. Use them in shampoos, rinses and oil conditioners.

Here are some ideas you can use to make your own herbal hair products.

Herbal Shampoo

Use this simple mixture just like you would any other shampoo. Let it sit on your hair and scalp for a while to increase the benefits.

  • Take a heaping teaspoon of Sage, Rosemary and Nettle (or any other three herbs you like).
  • Add them to a ¼ cup of boiling water and steep for twenty to thirty minutes.
  • Strain and add this tea to a ¼ cup of baby shampoo.
  • Mix thoroughly and use.

Herbal Rinse

Making herbal rinse is really simple. Use it to make your hair smooth, silky and smell divine.

  • Take a heaping teaspoon of Sage, Rosemary and Nettle (or any other herbs you'd prefer).
  • Add two cups of boiling water and let steep for twenty to thirty minutes.
  • Cool to slightly above room temperature and pour over hair as a final rinse.

Herbal Oil Infusion

Use herbal oil infusions as scalp massages, hot oil treatments and also in your daily hair regimen.

It takes a while for herbs to infuse with oils so whip up batches a week or two before you'll need to use them.

  • Boil a pot of water and put a metal saucer over it creating a double boiler.
  • Take ¼ cup of two to three different herbs and put them into the metal saucer along with a cup of carrier oil of your choice (extra virgin olive, sunflower, soy or peanut).
  • Heat the mixture for 30 minutes on low heat.
  • Pour the mixture into a wide mouth jar and cover with thick gauze cloth secured with an elastic band.
  • Put the jar in a warm place for a week or two, stirring daily.
  • Strain the infused oil then pour into a clear glass or plastic airtight container.
  • Use as needed.

To help your oil stay fresh, keep the container in a dark place.
