Help For Very Bad Acne

I am a black woman aged 29. I have been struggling with acne on my face for years. I have facial hair as well that leaves a scar whenever I pluck it.

But I have to do something b/c I can just leave them growing on my face. Please help with getting rid of acne and facial hair.

Camille's Answer:

Hi Rikki. Are we long lost twins or something?

I'm 29 as well, also suffer with acne (though it's under control) and as much as I hate to admit it am slowly growing a beard. LOL

I completely know how you feel.

Do you know what the cause of your acne is?

Since you're way out of the teen years it probably has something to do with hormones, particularly a hormone imbalance. The fact that you're growing chin hairs ties in to this also.

It's excess testosterone in your system that makes that happen and it's also what causes the acne.

Do you live a very stressful life? Usually that's what sets off an imbalance in adults as well as the food we eat (meat, dairy and some other foods grown with hormones).

The key for you is to balance your hormones out.

Here are some things you might want to try...

1. Eat a better diet filled with fruits and veggies. Go natures way and avoid a lot of meat, dairy and processed foods.

2. Get more exercise to help relieve stress and help your body functions get more "activated". A good workout also makes you sweat and that helps get rid of toxins through the skin.

3. Take a daily vitamin. Sometimes this can really help especially if your diet is poor. Take B-vitamins as well as this one is very important for healthy skin.

4. Take time every day to just relax and do something calming. Read a book, take a walk, listen to some soothing music or take a hot bath.

Stress is a KILLER!

Use natural and gentle products on your face. When you fight acne on the surface alone it tends to fight you back (and usually it wins).

As for your facial hair. The best way to get rid of it is with one of those new creams you can get from your doctor (Vaniqa) or electrolysis treatments.

Do some research and find out which one is best for you.

You can have clearer and hair free skin. You just need to do what it takes to get it!
