How Do You Fix Dry And Brittle Hair?

Tips for dry and brittle hair repair.

Is your hair, dry, damaged and breaking? Are you embarrassed by the way it looks?

The major cause of drab lifeless hair is overuse and/or improper use of styling methods and tools.

Here are just a few of the things that can wreck havoc on your hair.

  • Using too much heat (blow dryers, flat irons, etc).
  • Chemical treatments like relaxers, permanent hair color and bleach.
  • Not conditioning with every wash.
  • Not using the right conditioner.
  • Not using hair moisturizer regularly.
  • A very dry atmosphere.

Replace these moisture robbing habits with healthy ones and your hair will bounce back fast.

Let’s look at a few things you can do to repair your hair.

Repairing Dry And Brittle Hair

The keyword for fixing dry hair is hydration. To get soft, supple, glowing hair use treatments that add moisture and elasticity.

Here are some things you can try.

Deep Condition with Heat

When you add heat to your deep conditioning treatments you get three times the results than without. Wet heat (steam) helps the oils and conditioners penetrate deeply into the hair shaft instead of just having it coat the outside.

If dryness is a big problem for your hair you cannot do without a quality bonnet dryer and some plastic processing caps (they trap the heat and steam that give your hair extra conditioning).

Use Leave In Conditioner

Even after a great wash and deep condition, extra dry and brittle hair can benefit from more protection. Leave in conditioners work to seal moisture into the hair, make styling easier and smooth out the cuticle for a healthy sheen once your hair is dry.

Look for a creamy moisturizing leave-in with super hydrating ingredients like Shea butter and glycerin.

Seal Your Ends with Moisture

Ever heard of the “baggy trick”?

If your ends are extra dry and brittle, coat them in Shea butter or another ultra hydrating hairdress or butter. Put your hair into a bun and cover it with a plastic or saran wrap.

The plastic wrap and hair butter give your ends a mini hot oil treatment leaving them much softer and more conditioned.

Use these tips and your dry hair will be soft, beautiful and manageable in no time.
