Castor Oil For Hair

castor-oil-for-hair Castor oil for hair care is a vegetable oil that comes from the castor bean. It's actually a castor seed that comes from the castor plant.

This oil has been praised for a long time for its medicinal and curative properties (I know you’ve gotten at least a spoonful in your childhood). These “miracle” properties are what help make the oil great for use on skin and hair, but right now we’re going to focus on the uses for hair.

The Benefits Of Castor Oil For Hair

Here are some of the major benefits of using castor oil on hair.

  1. Keeps the hair healthy and soft (it attracts moisture out of the air and into hair).
  2. It makes hair shiny and strong.
  3. Helps make thinning hair thicker.
  4. Helps lost hair grow back.

One of the major uses of castor oil is for hair re-growth and growth in general.

It has omega-9 fatty acids in it that prevents your scalp from drying out and that also nourishes your hair from the roots. Rubbing castor oil into your scalp and roots on a regular basis helps hair grow back in those areas and also helps thicken hair that’s already growing.

What Type Of Castor Oil Is Best?

Stay far away from ultra refined castor oils. In fact, you want the crudest one you can find. That’s the type that has all the nutrients, vitamins and good omega fatty acids in it.

If you want value for money some of the best you can get is Jamaican Black Castor Oil. It doesn’t smell too great, but it sure gets the job done.

How To Use Castor Oil For Hair

You can use castor oil for hair in several different ways.

  • As a leave-in.
  • Combined with other ingredients to make your own special scalp and hair dressing.
  • As a hot oil treatment.

The best way to use it is as a scalp massage oil that you daily or every other day.

If you want to use the oil on a daily basis, I suggest mixing it with carrier oil like almond or grapeseed then adding a few drops of scented oil to make it more pleasant.

Here’s how you use it:

  1. Warm the oil slightly in a small saucepan.
  2. Dip your fingertips onto the oil and use it to massage your entire scalp in small circular motions.
  3. Take a plastic cap and cover your hair to help the oil penetrate for a few hours (or overnight).
  4. Wash your hair with a gentle shampoo and condition.

Try not to get the oil into your hair because it’s hard to wash out.

You should notice hair growing back after two to three months of using this treatment at least once a week!
