Blow Dry Hair - Tools You Need
How To Blow Dry Hair - Step By Step Instructions
The secret to getting a smooth, frizz free finish when you blow dry hair is keeping it moisturized and making sure it dries completely.
- Shampoo, deep condition and use a leave-in conditioner that provides good "slip" to your hair. Apply a good heat protectant to create a barrier between
your hair and the heat from the blow dryer.
- Use a wide tooth comb and gently comb your hair out thoroughly from the ends up to the roots.
- Part your hair into sections and clip them up and away. Use 4-6 depending on how thick your hair is.
- Using medium heat, hold the blow dryer 6-8 inches away from your hair and gently comb
through with your fingers until it is about 80% dry.
- Apply a light coating of hair serum to the section and use a large paddle brush to slowly brush the hair from underneath while pointing the concentrator nozzle
to that the air flows down the shaft. Finish off each section with a shoot of cool air to seal the hair's cuticle.
- Keep going through your hair section by section, moving from back to front till the entire
head is done.
- Finish by spraying a little oil sheen lightly over the hair. (If you are going to be using a
flat or curling iron skip this step till you're finished).
Blow Dry Hair The Healthy Way
Here're some tips you can use to make blowing your hair out quick, easy and as damage-free as possible.
- Always direct the heat down the hair shaft because doing this makes the outer scales lie down, and gives your hair sheen.
You should move from the back to the front, drying your hair in sections because you'll ensure that every strand is dried properly...it’s just easier (and guarantees zero frizz and no damp spots!).
- Don't use the highest heat setting. It’ll singe your hair, dry it out and leave it prone to breakage. Low to medium heat is much much healthier. Keep the air moving over each section of the hair so it doesn't overheat and "burn".
- You should never rush your blow drying session. Give yourself lots of time to get it done and you'll lose less hair and the results will be much smoother and long lasting.
- Never ever blow dry hair your hair when it's dirty! That's the fastest way to get your hair to break off by baking the dirt into the hair. And since we're on the subject, after you wash always use a heat protectant before you blow dry. It's like extra insurance for your hair when if you use it with a good leave in conditioner. Your hair's strength depends on it!
- Never blow dry your hair with a brush attachment. They usually have plastic bristles that will chew your hair up big time. Always use a concentrator nozzle and a paddle brush to get your hair sleek and smooth. Also, if you can do without blow drying you're better off.
To get and keep your hair really healthy try out options like roller setting,
braid outs and wrapping.
